Hi, I'm Kaitlyn!

The owner and head baker at Lil Treat.

My love of baking dates back to childhood. My grandmother was a baker and my mom is a baker, so I thankfully came by it naturally. As a small child, I would stand on the kitchen stool and help my mom measure out ingredients and help her decorate gingerbread men at Christmas. I was using an easy bake oven by age 3 but quickly graduated to a real oven; because, as my mom says, "Brownies cooked under a light bulb are gross." Christmas at 8 years old, I proudly gifted my dad a batch of my grandmother's molasses cookies baked all by myself! By age 10, I was a fully autonomous kid chef, trying out new recipes and taking my baked goods to

any event possible. I spent a lot of my middle and high school years baking for my friends and teachers. My snickerdoodle became quite famous amongst the football coaches, and I even remember a few friends paying me to make sopapilla cheesecake and red velvet cupcakes for their boyfriends' birthdays. (Throwback to the massive cupcake craze of the 2010's.) On my 18th birthday, I was gifted my beautiful Tiffany Blue kitchen aid mixer. Aside from my long distance moves to Germany and Syracuse, she has been with me the last decade and will continue to crank out all of Lil Treat's goodies as well.

So, how did I get here?

Having my own business has been a long-term goal of mine. Anytime there was a classroom project that tasked me with building an imaginary business, it was a bakery. I wasn't expecting to make any movement on this dream for at least another decade.  However, between tearing my ACL in January 2025 and pausing my more active hobbies, enduring yet more unprecedented times in the US, and doomscrolling an instagram algorithm packed full of cottage bakers...I thought, "Why the hell not?" My mom had gifted us an incredible new oven for our new house, and there is nothing like a little treat to lift peoples' sprits! I am so proud to say that this has come together in a matter of months, and I am thrilled to be sharing my love of baking with all of you. 💕
